What basic settings give past your allowance

What every request gets once the month’s full requests are used — and where the free plan stops.

1. Full requests, then basic settings

Each plan comes with a number of full requests a month. A full request gets everything your plan includes. Once the month's full requests are used up, requests are answered in basic settings until the month resets or you upgrade. Your pages keep working: the same address still answers with a picture.

2. What basic settings give

Choice In basic settings
Colour Silver, black or white; any other colour is served in silver
Angle The front three-quarter
Background White
Width Up to 800 pixels
Plate Blank
Format WebP or JPEG; a PNG request is served as WebP

A basic picture is the vehicle we hold, made once and kept, so it costs nothing to serve.

3. How to tell

Every response says which it was. The Hyke-Mode header reads full or basic, and Hyke-Full-Requests-Left counts what is left this month. Each choice basic settings changed is counted in Hyke-Differences and explained at the address in Hyke-Details, for example:

Any colour is available for your first 150 requests each month. Those are used up, so we served silver. Basic colours: silver, black, white.

4. When the full requests come back

Full requests come back when the month resets, or at once when you upgrade. Because a browser keeps a basic picture for only five minutes, your pages show the full picture again soon after.

5. Where the free plan stops

On Starter and Pro, basic requests have no monthly limit. On the free plan, the 150 full requests are followed by 7,500 basic requests a month. After those, picture requests are refused with a clear monthly-limit message until the month resets. Nothing is ever charged.
